KX 93.5 presents its second annual Festival of Music featuring legendary Southern California band The Beach Boys at Irvine Bowl on Sep. 27, 2014 at 7 p.m.
The Irvine Bowl Policy Committee, including members of City Council, approved the venues first use for a major concert in more than 10 years.
Were thrilled that the city has the confidence in us to make history by bringing a band as iconic as The Beach Boys to Irvine Bowl, said KX 93.5 Founder and Program Director Tyler Russell. Theres no band with better Southern California roots to bring multiple generations of Lagunans together in what should be a truly memorable night.
Supporting acts will include Say Say, a Los Angeles indie/electronic duo, and 133, a local super-group featuring Steve Wood, Beth Wood, Jason Feddy, Nick Hernandez, Poul Pederson, Bob Hawkins, Drew Hester and Alan Deremo.
Presenting sponsors include Tuttle Click Automotive, Wilson Automotive and 133 FILMusic Group. All proceeds will support non-profits KX 93.5, Tony Hawk Foundation, SchoolPower, Mauli Ola Foundation and Surfrider Foundation.
Doors to the festival area open at 5:30 p.m. and the grounds will feature tasty dinner choices with food trucks, beverages and beach-themed cocktails. Beach Boys merchandise and sponsor activities will be offered at sponsor booths.
The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who along with Christian Love, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band.
Loves role as the bands front man sometimes overshadows his stature as one of rocks foremost songwriters. Surfin, The Beach Boys first hit came from his pen. With his cousin, Brian Wilson, Love wrote the classics Fun, Fun, Fun, I Get Around, Help Me Rhonda, California Girls and the Grammy-nominated Good Vibrations. Years later, he showed he still had the lyrical chops by co-writing the irresistible and chart-topping Kokomo.
Tickets start at $45. Special ticket packages include the KX 93.5 Five Summer Stories VIP Pre-Party with complimentary food and drinks, as well as an up-close screening of MacGillivray/Freemans 1972 surf classic Five Summer Stories. There are also a limited number of passes available for a Club Kokomo Meet n Greet with Mike Love and The Beach Boys.
Tickets and more information are available at http://www.KX935.com/festivalofmusic.
Some show sponsorships are still available.
