Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has found that over a third (37%) of workers choose coffee shops based on the availability of free Wi-Fi rather the quality of the tea or coffee.
Wi-Fi topped the list of reasons to choose a mobile working venue, with 60% of respondents saying it's important, while the ability to print was the second most important reason with nearly a quarter (24%) of respondents saying they would like printers to be available.
With 69% of people working remotely from coffee shops at least twice a week, only 3% of the 101 coffee shops included in the survey provided printers to its customers.
Mark Ash, General Manager Print, Samsung UK said, Through this research we wanted to get to the bottom of the technology issues of mobile working. The trend of working remotely in coffee shops has been steadily increasing for a while now, but our research found the availability of Wi-Fi is no longer enough to satisfy customers. Despite it being important, customers want a more complete working experience.
The survey also found 42% would like to see a dedicated area for workers in their mobile working environment as nearly half (46.9%) are put off by noisy the atmosphere in most venues. Despite this, only 8% of coffee shops offer dedicated working areas.
Furthermore, only 9% of mobile workers are currently using 4G, relying instead on Wi-Fi available in coffee shops (90%) or public roaming Wi-Fi (15%). Also, smartphones are the most popular device for mobile working according to the survey, with 71% of workers saying they use the device to work, while only 50% use a laptop and 49% a tablet.

With the help of this customer research and insight, Samsung will be launching a new range of printers; Samsung Printer Xpress M2835DW. Using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, users can tap and print, scan or fax documents from a mobile device, ensuring greater ease and speed of printing while on the move. Users can also print emails, photos and PDF files anytime, anywhere with Google Cloud Print which can also be accessed from the Samsung MobilePrint app.
