10 Reasons why People Work with Object Matrix
It's our tenth year of attending the National Association of Broadcasters Show (NAB) in one form or another so we thought we would jot down 10 reasons why organisations, large and small, have trusted Object Matrix with their data since then:
1. No more Silos!
They need a solution that is more than just another silo of storage or file system. They want their staff to work on higher level functions that generate value to the company and not waste time managing storage pools.
2. Integrated, Automated and Non-Disruptive
They need a scalable nearline storage platform that integrated into the way they work with the technology or applications they currently use. Avid (Interplay), Vidispine, Cantemo, Glookast, Adobe, Aspera, Sony (ODA), Telestream, SGL to name a few.
3. Future Proof and Intelligent
They are required to ensure access to their content now and far into the future. They also needed their storage platforms to provide extra business benefits from metadata and business rules management to unique Process in Place capabilities.
4. All Stakeholders
They need to implement storage platform that met the needs of all stakeholders in their business from the editor to the CTO, CFO and CEO.
5. Surviving Local Outages
They are implementing a disaster recovery and business continuity platform to ensure their valuable assets are available on demand even if the lights go out at their main facility.
6. SD, HD, UHD and Beyond
More content is being created at the highest possible resolutions. What used to be a 20 terabyte project is now a half petabyte one. They need to protect that content for work in progress, for distribution (VoD) and for archive.
7. Find & Share
It is as important to protect, curate and nurture metadata as it is to protect the essence of the content itself! Our customers want to be able to find their content in 5 years time even if the MAM that archived it is not available. We built Vision to give them a view on their content and they just love it.
8. Secure and Audit
They need to provide full audits of all access to content throughout its lifetime on a secure object storage platform
9. Flexible & Agile Approach
They needed a plugin written for a workflow we do not support. They needed functionality added to one of our existing products. They needed to use a mix of CAPEX and OPEX to implement their strategic vision. They asked us and we made it happen. What's good for one is often great for another.
10. World Class Support
We write software. It does not always work as bugs happen . What we do know is that every member of staff at Object Matrix will get involved if a customer needs an issue resolved.
Most of the points above relate to implementing a DCG (Digital Content Governance) platform. Our customers agree that conversations around storage platforms should focus on strategic issues (Security, Automation, Integration, Business Continuity, Audit, Search, etc) and not solely on price and speed. Your digital content governance platform should do so much more for you by creating workflow efficiencies and enabling revenue generating opportunities.
