Despite some weather-related hiccups, the 2025 MLB Speedway Classic proved to be a big hit over the weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. The one-off event, taking place on a baseball field inside the NASCAR racetrack, broke the record for an MLB regular-season game, with 91,032 total tickets sold. The massive crowd on hand for the Saturday and Sunday festivities was treated to a unique show featuring LED displays throughout the venue - all produced by the league and its production partner, Van Wagner.

MLB and Van Wagner worked closely with Ross Video to populate content for every LED screen - from the temporary LED wall built into the right-field wall, to the concert stage in the Fan Pavilion, to the four-sided Colossus center-hung screen hanging over the middle of the track.

Ross Production Services supplied a custom field kit comprising an arsenal of Ross Video gear, including a collection of new M9 XPression graphics systems running both Tessera for the LED displays and Studio Standard for the CG insert package. In addition, the kits contained an Ultrix FR5 router with Ultrix Mosaic SDPEs for low-latency compositing. Ross also provided OpenGear Gator Toolbox cards for conversion, as well as its Dashboard software for control of the looks and takeovers for exciting moments. Ross Video Brushback supported the MLB data coming into the system to supply advanced stats for fans.
