The Foundry and Creativepool Hit Cannes Lions

Each year, Cannes Lions brings together the top talent from the creative world. This year, big names in technology made their way to the south of France, as topics like the Internet of Things, Big Data and the convergence of creative and digital, as well diversity, dominated the conference. This year, we teamed with Creativepool to host some of these luminaries. We spent some time with Joe Bracken from Creativepool to learn more about Creativepool, get his insights on Cannes Lions and why the conversations are more important than ever.

What is the mission of Creativepool?

Why is Cannes Lions so important?

Cannes Lions is a place for inspiration and collaboration. Mix the sun, top industry leaders and a whole lot of ros and you're bound to come home with some good ideas and new friends at the end of the week. It's also a festival with massive global reach with delegates from all over the world - making it the perfect place to catch up with business colleagues the world over from LA to Singapore.

With so many big names under one roof there will be plenty of conversations both on the beach and online. One theme we are definitely seeing for 2015 is a focus on diversity. There's a lot to listen out for: there'll be inspiring speakers such as US Vice President Al Gore, AntiChrist Superstar' Marilyn Manson, 25 year old founder of Snapchat Evan Spiegel and Seinfeld alumni and Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Not to mention Tim Berners-Lee who invented a little something you might have heard of known as the World Wide Web.

How does Cannes Lions relate to the overall future of the industry?

At Creativepool we are all about recognizing the extreme amount of dedication that goes into creative work, and Cannes Lions is the pinnacle of this idea. Without the ability for creative work to be recognized and celebrated, the industry's growth is at stake. This year all eyes are on Lions Innovation, a unique two-day event where data, technology and creativity will intersect. The Lions festival also supports a Young Lions Competition; a look forward to the upcoming movers-and-shakers who will be leading tomorrow's industry. With all these thought-leaders, creative visionaries and more, you'll end the week with a new found insight into what to expect for the coming year.
