The Covid-19 virus pandemic hit a bit closer to home last week for television's audio community. Larry Edgeworth, who had worked as an audio technician for 25 years for NBC News, died Thursday, March 19, at the age of 61 after testing positive for the coronavirus.

NBC News audio tech Larry Edgeworth died on Thursday at 61.

Edgeworth, a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology (BFA, television and film production), was well known to many network correspondents who traveled with him around the world. NBC News Chairman Andy Lack wrote, Many of you were fortunate enough to work with Larry over the years, so you know that he was the guy you wanted by your side no matter where you were.

Edgeworth, 61, didn't work in sports, but he did work almost everywhere else, including covering stories in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams' coverage of a typhoon in the Philippines in 2014. He also was the location sound mixer for 964 episodes of the NBC reality show Survivor.

Edgeworth is survived by his wife, Crystal, and two sons.
