Screen Producers Australia welcomes the decision by the new Prime Minister to bring the Arts and Communications portfolios together and we look forward to a close working relationship with Minister Fifield as we grow our innovative sector. This is a sensible decision that Screen Producers Australia has been advocating for as part of our broader policy agenda. It importantly marries up the critical policy levers for the screen industry under the one Minister. The screen industrys future depends on the poets and the plumbers - the artists and the communications engineers - using a range of innovative technologies working together.

The Prime Minister has a comprehensive knowledge of the screen production industry and, with the continued support of Government, the sector is well placed to make the most of expanding opportunities in the international marketplace for our products, along with ensuring Australian audiences continue to see Australian stories on screen. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank both Mr Turnbull and Senator Brandis who, as previous Communications and Arts Ministers, made significant contributions to the Australian screen sector.

Screen Producers Australia is a national member based organisation that unites screen businesses to campaign for a healthy commercial environment and supports the interests of businesses large and small in their production of feature films, television programs, interactive content and games across all genres and formats.
