Germany's ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery will launch their new streaming service Joyn in June.

The platform succeeds current streaming service 7TV.

The companies hope Joyn will become the largest free-TV service in Germany with livestreams of over 50 TV channels. It will also include an on-demand section with original productions; programmes will be available seven days ahead of their TV broadcast and 30 days afterwards as catch-up TV.

Joyn will be available to users free of charge via smartphones, tablets, web and smart TVs. A beta version will be made available to selected users this month.

So far, ProSiebenSat.1 and Discovery have gained 15 content partners for Joyn including ZDF, Sport1 and Axel Springer. They expect to have maxdome and Eurosport Player integrated into the service later this year.
