MediaCityUK invests 0 million in Tomorrow

Work on Tomorrow', a new development at MediaCityUK, Salford, has begun. The £20 million project totals over 100,000sqft and features a 112-bed hotel, new offices and studio space.

Bowmer and Kirkland, the appointed construction partner on the scheme, started work in March this year, with the project scheduled for completion by summer 2016. Earlier this year the Peel Group announced Legal & General Capital as the new 50 per cent shareholder in its MediaCityUK scheme. Salford City Council gave the green light to plans in September 2014.

MediaCityUK has been a key trigger in the explosion of creative start-ups and national relocations so it's essential that we give these businesses the right type of space and the flexibility to grow organically, said the managing director of MediaCityUK, Stephen Wild. The design of Tomorrow is experimental, quirky and a little bit different and what will be on offer at Tomorrow will be complementary to the state-of-the-art digital technology in broadcast and production, audio and virtual reality arena currently offered at the Landing and Dock10. Equally, MediaCityUK has become a thriving destination and our new hotel will be able to service the increasing number of people visiting the area .

Tomorrow will be located in a ten-storey building, with four floors dedicated to the hotel, while the remaining six will be for business use.

Tomorrow will give businesses an extra option for location of commercial premises, adding to The Greenhouse, The Pie Factory, White, Orange and Blue Towers, The Landing, Digital World Centre, Quay West, The Victoria and The Alexandra.

As well as being home to the BBC, ITV, Coronation Street and the University of Salford, more than 200 smaller media and tech companies are now based at MediaCityUK.
