The 7-metre-long Baa-Ewe tapestry, inspired by the iconic Bayeux Tapestry and featuring Shaun and friends, has been unveiled by Tom Daley at the Natural History Museum ahead of the cinema release of Sky Original feature film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom on 18 September

A baa-rilliant new tribute to one of Britain's best loved animated characters has been unveiled by Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley, founder of the knitting and crochet lifestyle brand Made With Love, ahead of the release of Sky Original feature film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom in cinemas from 18 September. The film is produced by Aardman in partnership with Sky and STUDIOCANAL.

Inspired by the world-famous Bayeux Tapestry, the specially commissioned Baa-Ewe Tapestry is a striking new textile artwork that brings Shauns latest cinematic adventure to life in stitched form. Stretching seven metres in length and featuring Shaun, Bitzer and the residents of Mossy Bottom Farm, the handcrafted piece reimagines scenes from the film through traditional embroidery techniques, celebrating both the art of storytelling and the craftsmanship that sits at the heart of Aardmans world-renowned stop-motion animation.

While the original 70-metre-long medieval masterpiece chronicles the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of 1066, the Baa-Ewe Tapestry tells a very different tale, charting the chaos, comedy and Halloween hijinks of Shaun's latest cinematic adventure. Its unveiling comes the day before the original Bayeux Tapestry goes on display at the British Museum from 10 September 2026 to 11 July 2027, as part of a historic loan from France.

Tom Daley even left his own mark on the Baa-Ewe Tapestry, knitting a miniature sweater vest for Shaun emblazoned with the words Shaun the Sheep , which appears in the final section of the tapestry. He also knitted a matching jumper for himself reading Tom the Human , which he wore to the unveiling of the completed artwork at the Natural History Museum.

On adding the final touch to the tapestry, Daley said I'm so thrilled to be involved in this amazing celebration of creativity, and I can't wait for everyone to see the beautiful tapestry the team have put together. I've waited years for the opportunity to collaborate with Shaun the Sheep, so when he asked me to design him a bespoke piece of knitwear, I simply had to say yes!

The artwork will be on public display at the Natural History Museum, the nations favourite visitor attraction, in the Darwin Centres West Wing from 9 September to 1 November, giving visitors the opportunity to see the Baa-Ewe Tapestry up close and follow Shauns latest adventure panel by panel ahead of the films cinema release.

The unveiling marks the latest celebration ahead of the release of Sky Original feature film Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom, the third feature-length adventure from Aardmans globally beloved Shaun the Sheep franchise, produced by Aardman and in partnership with STUDIOCANAL.

The Baa-Ewe Tapestry measures 7 metres in length, making it one-tenth the size of its medieval inspiration. Created by a skilled team of 15 designers and textile specialists, the intricate artwork took over 180 hours to design and craft and features lovingly stitched scenes inspired by the film.
