The Telos Alliance & QSC Audio Teach Seminar on AES67 Audio Interoperability at Infocomm 2016
Broadcast Radio and Live Sound come together to educate attendees on AoIP interoperability across industries.
CLEVELAND, OH 1 June 2016
The Telos Alliance leaders in broadcast radio technology and inventors of AoIP for broadcast announced today that it will be teaching an Infocomm University seminar at Infocomm 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Friday, June 10, 2016, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. The seminar, entitled AES67: Achieving Interoperability Between Audio Networks, will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and offer attendees one CTS credit.
The Telos Alliances VP of Sales, Support, & Marketing, Marty Sacks, will lead the seminar along with Media Networking Alliance chairman and VP of Systems Strategy for QSC Audio, Rich Zwiebel. Together Sacks and Zwiebel bring two different industries to the AES67 discussion, both of which benefit from the AoIP interoperability standard. Sacks offers the Broadcast Radio perspective, while Zwiebel represents Live Sound.
Users have a lot of options when it comes to selecting AoIP network protocols both in Broadcast Radio and Live Sound, says Sacks. Despite all the different AoIP protocols, including our own Livewire technology, interoperability can be achieved thanks to AES67, a standard that the Telos Alliance helped define early on. This session brings together both those worlds to illustrate the true meaning of interoperability: when a standard can work across industries, in addition to platforms, manufacturers, and equipment.
AES67 is an open standard that provides a means of exchanging audio between equipment from multiple manufacturers that are AES67-compliant using standard IP-based Ethernet network technology. AES67: Achieving Interoperability Between Audio Networks explores AES67 and how one can use it in both products and projects. Drawing on each of the presenters backgrounds, the seminar will explore both installed sound and broadcast perspectives, and explain why it is important to have an open standard that supports interoperability between these industries.
The Telos Alliance invented Audio over IP for broadcast and was the first manufacturer to make a broadcast device using that protocol. Axia Livewire consoles are now used in 7,000 studios worldwide, and there are more than 70,000 Livewire-connected devices installed. Having pioneered its own AoIP technology, the Telos Alliance then contributed time and resources to the effort that led to the AES67 standard. The company is also a charter member of the Media Networking Alliance, an organization devoted to promoting the adoption of the AES67 standard on behalf of the Pro Audio and Broadcast industries. Livewire+ Axias AES67-compliant AoIP protocol has made its way into most Axia consoles including the RAQ, DESQ, iQ, and Radius models with the remainder slated to be AES67-compliant soon.
Marty Sacks has been with the Telos Alliance for more than a decade, where he has held a variety of roles in management and sales. Marty's broadcasting career has included stints in engineering for group owners First Media and Greater Media, sales at companies like Pacific Research & Engineering and Electronics Research, and even a foray into publishing.
