Apple release Logic Pro 11.2 & Logic Pro for iPad 2.2

New Stem Splitter & Flashback Capture features

Apple have announced the launch of significant updates that introduce some powerful new features to Logic Pro for both Mac and iPad users. Both versions of the popular DAW have been kitted out with an improved Stem Splitter function, a new Flashback Capture feature designed to rescue missed takes during recording, some new built-in sounds and more.

Stem Splitter & Flashback Capture The latest update to Logic's Stem Splitter function is said to extract greater detail from old recordings and demos, and now offers support for guitar and piano stems. There's also a new submix feature that makes quick work of exporting common stem combinations as new audio files - removing vocals, isolating drums and bass, and so on.

Flashback Capture, meanwhile, makes it possible for users to recover performances where they forgot to hit Record, restoring both MIDI and Audio performances with a key command or on-screen button. The function also includes a Cycle mode, which allows users to perform multiple takes and have the results automatically organised into a folder.

New Sound Packs & Learn MIDI Alongside the new features, Apple have also introduced a selection of new sound packs. Dancefloor Rush comprises over 400 drum and bass loops, while Magnetic Imperfections captures the raw, unpolished essence of analogue tape, and Tosin Abasi showcases progressive metal guitar captured using boutique amps, unique effects, distinctive picking techniques and the artist's signature riffs. Those working on an iPad also now have access to Learn MIDI, which offers hands-on control of faders, knobs, buttons, plug-in parameters and other automatable functions within Logic Pro.

Learn MIDI is now available on the iPad, providing users with a wealth of hands-on control over Logic Pros functions.

Compatibility Apples official Newsroom announcement states that Logic Pro for Mac requires macOS Sequoia 15.4 or later, and Logic Pro for iPad requires iPadOS 18.4 or later. Currently, the Logic product page on the Apple website lists macOS Sonoma 14.4 as a minimum requirement.

Pricing & Availability Logic Pro for Mac 11.2 is available now, and is a free update to existing users. A new license costs $199.99 from the Mac App Store. It is also available as part of the Pro Apps Bundle for Education, which includes Final Cut Pro, MainStage, Motion, and Compressor for $199.99.

Logic Pro for iPad 2.2 is available now, and is a free update for existing users. It can be purchased on the App Store for $4.99 per month or $49 per year, with a one-month free trial available for new users.
