TVE and Atresmedia, the most nominated groups in the Iris of the Academy Awards The Academy of Television in Spain together with the Latin American News Alliance (AIL) created the Iris America Awards, to be delivered on April 24 in Costa Rica.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has announced the result of the vote of the academics to choose the finalists in the Iris prize that grants the institution on an annual basis.

At press conference held at the Casino Gran Via in Madrid, the President of the Academy of Television Manuel Campo Vidal has confirmed that the issuance of the ceremony is negotiating with La 2 of TVE in late may from the Gran Casino Aranjuez. In addition, it pointed out that in this Edition "the vote has proved to be very balanced in different categories". Now begins the second round of voting among scholars to choose the winners. These awards "will be those who vote the Council of the Academy in the regional categories and award a lifetime in a meeting before the ceremony".

It has also announced the creation of the Iris America Awards along with AIL (Alianza Informativa Latinoamericana), which will be delivered on April 24 in Costa Rica. "The objective is to have the Television Academy, following the request from certain countries, a reference in the Spanish-speaking world."

For his part, Francisco Garc a Novell, director of the ceremony of the Iris Prize XVI, explained that "this issue will be a tribute to television, given that marks the 50 anniversary of the birth of studies of Prado del Rey. In addition, we homenajearemos the figure of Adolfo Su rez, first academic of Honor of the institution and the living treasures, since we have the testimony of people who have made possible the television throughout the years in Spain".
