The IOC released its new Olympic channel on 21 AugustProduced by Olympic Broadcasting Services from Madrid, the new channel has a team initially composed of 60 professionals of 20 nationalities.
Just turns off the Olympic torch relay of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will launch the new Olympic channel.
From Sunday, August 21, after the closing ceremony of the games, the Olympic channel will be available worldwide through a mobile application for Android devices and iOS platform olympicchannel.com.
In addition, athletes and fans can follow the Olympic Canal through the social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube) or sign up to receive updates of the Olympic Canal through its website.
The President of the IOC, Thomas Bach, said that "the launch of the Olympic Canal is the beginning of a new and exciting journey to connect the audience with the Olympic movement worldwide throughout the year. Fans can follow sports, the athletes and the stories behind the Olympics. "The channel Olympic will inspire to the new generations of athletes and fans".
This free platform will feature original programming, with live broadcasts, news and summaries of Olympic activity throughout the year. The production own of the channel Olympic will include content of short and long duration centered in the athletes of elite, its search of the success and the sport in all the world.
Designed for a global audience, the platform will be offered initially in English with subtitles in nine different languages and will feature a video on demand service.
Olympic channel intends to promote agreements with other stakeholders in the Olympic movement, including broadcasters and national Olympic committees to develop localized versions of the emission. The localized versions will offer specific user experiences in the local language on digital platforms, and also include linear television programming options.
The channel team is initially composed of 60 professionals of 20 nationalities.
Commercial and distribution departments are located at the headquarters of the IOC in Lausanne (Switzerland) while technical support, production and broadcast will take place from Madrids Olympic Broadcasting Services)OBS), audiovisual arm of the Olympic Committee whose headquarters is located precisely in the capital of Spain.
