The Great Hypnotist to Be Released in Dolby Atmos

Beijing, April 21, 2014-Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE: DLB) today announced that The Great Hypnotist will be mixed and released in the Dolby Atmos cinema sound platform. Dolby Atmos uses 3D surround sound to make movie audiences feel as if they are inside the movie, not merely watching it.

The Great Hypnotist will be released theatrically in mainland China on April 29 by Wanda Media. This is the first Chinese thriller and the second movie that Wanda has mixed in Dolby Atmos. The premiere of the movie will be held in Dolby Atmos on April 23 at hall nine of Wandas Beijing CBD theatre, which has been newly upgraded with Dolby Atmos technology.

The Great Hypnotist is directed by Leste Chen, starring Zheng Xu and Karen Mok, and produced by Zheng Xu.

The Dolby Atmos version of The Great Hypnotist has been mixed by sound designers Nan Zhao and Jiang Yang at China Film Group Studio in Beijing.

The Great Hypnotist unfolds the extraordinary journey of recovery of modern people who suffer from mental illness. If someone was telling you very seriously about something inconceivable and was trying to make you believe what he was saying, your first reaction would probably be to laugh him off. However, real-life experience tells us that, rather than the story itself, what is really important is the motivation of the person telling the story. The film begins with a woman who meets with a psychologist and who claims to be able to see through souls.

Although The Great Hypnotist is a commercial project, the director nevertheless wants to deliver a positive moral value through the film. The core concept of the film is atonement, which the viewer discovers only after a walk through the films labyrinth.
