Spotty Dog and other stories for township children Spotty Dog (and other stories for township children) was written by Gladys Thomas, and published in 1988.

The stories are meant for children, but were also written about chlidren - drawing from the vibrance of the townships, which very few readers of the time had gotten to see first-hand.

Stories are told with approximately 47 pages, with each story exploring something unique to the South African landscape.

Spotty Dog become part of South Africa's history, even though there might be many who haven't read it yet.

The author of Spotty Dog: who was Gladys Thomas? Gladys Thomas was a South African anti-apartheid activist and author, perhaps best known for her cowritten book named Cry Rage.

The poetry anthology named Cry Rage was the first poetry book to be banned under South Africa's then-strict censorship laws.

In 2007, the author received the Order of Ikhamanga for her contributions to South African arts, culture, and literature.

She passed away in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of great writing.
