Trail Blazing Ellabie; a South African Originated IP, Heads to Cartoon Forum

Breaking ground, for what is planned to be the first SA / Ireland animated TV series Co Production.

Cartoon Forum: A Pitching & co-pro event Animated TV series 15 18 Sep 15 -Toulouse (France).

Cape Town based Zeropoint Studios' creative producer, Wendy Spinks, was invited to pitch her 2D animated TV series with co production partners Monster Entertainment from Ireland at this prestigious event.

Ellabie is one of 70 projects being pitched at Cartoon Forum in Toulouse this year, a first for a South African co production. An Irish / SA animated co production is another first for SA.

Ellabie exemplifies all that the South African animation industry is building towards: world class production value and partnerships with international distributors and co-producers. The first ever animation co-production between South Africa and Ireland comes on the back of phenomenally hard work and resilience. 52 x 11 minute animated adventures for 3-6 year-olds.

When Ellabie and her friends climb inside the Story Tree,

they enter a world of magical stories and exciting adventures!

Cartoon Forum is a European pitching & co-pro forum for animated TV projects. For 3 days, producers have the opportunity to pitch their project in front of 850 broadcasters, investors and other potential partners from 30 countries. Since its creation in 1990, 594 series found financing, representing a total budget of 2 billion EUR. On average, more than one project out of three presented at Cartoon Forum secures financing and enters into production.

Each producer will have 30 minutes to present all the aspects of their project, including concept, graphics, characters, production schedule, stage reached in the financial arrangements, profitability scheme and what they expect from the audience.

The people and companies behind Ellabie:

The creator, and producer, Wendy Spinks is from Zeropoint Studios in Cape Town, South Africa, where Wendy focuses on creating and producing youth content and IP; actively developing ideas, animated TV series, trans media and digital content for global youth brands aimed at multi platforms.

Ireland's Monster Entertainment, headed up by Andrew Fitzpatrick is an established brand management company, which produces and distributes programmes into over 200 countries. Monster Entertainment, won the Cartoon Award for Investor/ Distributor of the Year in 2012.

Monster Entertainment, took Ellabie on board a few years back and we have been developing the series together with support from Creative Europe Media, The Irish Film Board and the NFVF in South Africa as a co production

Ellabie is a fantasy adventure, with fun creative story telling where anything is possible. Anything could happen and does, but things, no matter how random they seem, have a way of working out and leading you home.

Aiming, to not only embrace rich story telling through imagination and creative thinking, Ellabie will also convey some of life lessons, seldom taught in the classroom, in a fun way!

Ellabie's inner world explores a fantasy, story world of exciting adventures through random conjured up ideas in a world never bound by time. Inspiring her friends and the viewers to dream big dreams, as she dares them to be ALL they can be in real life.
