Yahsat Joins UAE Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge

Pledge seeks to increase engagement from the private sector and companies in the pivot towards decarbonization

21 leading companies across the UAE joined the Pledge which was organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment

Yahsat's participation in the Pledge is closely aligned with the Group's sustainability framework

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 01 September 2022: Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC ( Yahsat ) listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange ( ADX ) under (SYMBOL: YAHSAT) (ISIN: AEA007501017), the UAE's flagship satellite solutions provider, was one of 21 UAE companies to pledge support for the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment's ( MoCCAE ) strategic initiative the UAE Climate-Responsible Companies Pledge aimed at driving the engagement of the private sector in advancing national decarbonization efforts to support the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative.

The pledge took place on 29 August 2022 as part of the fourth stage of the National Dialogue for Climate Ambition (NDCA), a series of sector specific assemblies aimed at establishing a national sustainability culture and highlighting the country's efforts to achieve climate neutrality.

Yahsat pledged its support to bolster efforts being undertaken to combat climate change in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action by enhancing its measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, developing plans to reduce its carbon footprint, and adapting climate change mitigation efforts into the Company's business and operational model. Yahsat further pledged to incorporate an inclusive approach to its sustainability and climate change action plans through the inclusion of youth, women and vulnerable segments of society.

Yahsat's support is reflective of its commitment to develop innovative technologies that will help build a climate resilient future. As a leading global satellite solutions provider, Yahsat is exploring opportunities to incorporate renewable energy sources in its operations while reducing total carbon emissions in-line with the company's sustainability framework. Yahsat is supportive of the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategic Initiative and aligned with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 to develop resilient infrastructure to support economic growth.
