Behind-The-Scenes Sneak Peek at Big Night In for the Arts: Recording Tift Merritt

A crew from WRAL-TV traveled to Sonark Studios in Hillsborough on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, to record Tift Merritt's segment for Big Night In for the Arts. WRAL-TV Local Production Manager Don Urisch and WRAL-TV Local Production Producers Steve Elizondo and Scott Reid worked alongside Sonark's CEO & Chief Engineer Steven Raets and Studio Manager Eli Webb to capture audio and video of the singer/songwriter who got her start in the Triangle.

Merritt brought a brand new song to the studio to share for the third annual edition of Big Night In.

The event is a collaboration between WRAL-TV and the four local arts councils of Wake, Durham, Chatham, and Orange counties to raise funds to support the arts in our community.

Tune in for the 2024 broadcast of Big Night In for the Arts on Thursday, March 7, on WRAL-TV and WRAL.com.

This year's Big Night In promises to be another unforgettable experience, featuring performances by renowned artists including Grammy-nominated musicians Pierce Freelon and Tift Merritt, award winning bluegrass musician Tray Wellington, local muralist Gabriel Eng-Goetz, emerging playwright and filmmaker Jordan Wiley, and the dynamic Latin American dance group Takiri Folclor Latino.
