Atlanta-Based Tradewind Productions Undertakes Diverse Corporate/Event Aignments with Panasonic s New AJ-PX70 Handheld

TradeWind proprietor and veteran shooter Christian Jolly, who built his award-winning company around acquisition with Panasonic pro cameras, selected the PX270 based on its 4:2:2 10-bit color space, integrated lens and advanced features such as high-resolution proxy recording.

The PX270 is an ideal blend of two body styles, large and small, Jolly said. It delivers broadcast-quality performance in a standard integrated camera, which is still well suited for run-and-gun coverage at live events.

This spring and summer, Jolly has undertaken a series of projects for Positive Athlete, whose signature events are the Positive High School Athlete Awards, celebrating an area's most positive high school athletes in the organization's inaugural markets of Atlanta and Pittsburgh, PA.

Jolly's work for Positive Athlete has included the live streaming of Athlete Awards banquets, recording to microP2 media for residual use of the footage, and coverage of other organization activities such as a symposium on concussions.

Live streaming is facilitated by the PX270's HD/SD-SDI out, Jolly noted. I often work alongside shooters with different Panasonic P2 HD or AVCCAM models and, given the PX270's extensive video control menus, it color matches beautifully with the other cameras.

The PX270's high-resolution AVC-Proxy encodes in parallel with higher bandwidth production formats, enabling fast, efficient offline editing. With the camcorder's proxy recording, I'm able to upload proxies for editing while I'm still on location, he said

Jolly also cited the PX270's auto-activated OLED viewfinder, integrated lens and programmable user buttons as collective time savers.
