Don Cornelli, a veteran sports television camera operator and Sports Broadcasting Hall of Famer, worked the final NFL game of his career last night, operating a handheld during FOX Sports' broadcast of Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

An industry veteran for more than three decades, he has shot the NFL on FOX A game since 1993, capturing countless iconic moments. His signature moment is arguably wide receiver Plaxico Burress's game-winning TD catch in the Giants' victory over the undefeated Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

During Sunday night's broadcast, FOX gave an on-air shoutout to Cornelli, who was working his 25th Super Bowl.

Cornelli worked his first NFL game for CBS Sports in 1986 and then moved up the ranks to become a fixture on the CBS A game in 1988 with the fabled team of director Sandy Grossman, producer Bob Stenner, and announce duo Pat Summerall and John Madden.

Cornelli had opted to leave the local-news scene in Detroit and was freelancing full-time, working NFL, NBA, NASCAR, college basketball, and other broadcasts for CBS; Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers shows for PASS Sports in Detroit; and college basketball for ESPN.

When CBS lost the rights to the NFL's NFC package to Fox Sports in 1993, he made the move over and has been working the NFL on FOX A games ever since. In all, he has worked 35 NFC Championship games for FOX and CBS and 23 Super Bowls for various broadcasters.

Cornelli was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame Class of 2020. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the induction ceremony for that class was held in December 2021. The following is the tribute video that played during the ceremony, followed by his acceptance speech:

As a freelancer, Cornelli retained the freedom to work events for different broadcasters and different sports. When not roaming NFL sidelines, he works on CBS Sports' golf coverage, including The Masters and PGA Championship. Over the years, he has also run handheld camera at the NBA Finals, NCAA Final Four, NHL Stanley Cup Final, World Series, Olympics (1992 and 1994 Winter Games for CBS, 1996 Summer Games for NBC), FIFA World Cup (1994 in the U.S.), US Open tennis, Daytona 500, and other events.
