GlobalM presents their new software defined video network at Future Week Bergen 2021

Recently, GlobalM was at Media City Bergen Future week 2021 presenting their software defined video network and mobile broadcasting mobile app. The Broadcast as a Service (BaaS) replaces the need for satellite or private fiber video contribution from all types of events, remote productions and news coverage. Paul Calleja, CTO of GlobalM explains how this is achieved in the Future Week presentation from Bergen Media City, Norway.

GlobalM is a Swiss based developer of a new software defined video network designed to make high quality video transmissions possible to multiple participants over the internet. The GlobalM solution is a high-availability and scalable network that automates and geolocates network resources to the closest points of presence on our network for each stream origin and destination.

Our network architecture can scale to multiple takers, allowing one stream pod to scale to multiple stream destination pods, all with their own unique SRT stream URI. GlobalM works with any SRT video encoder and supports full packet recovery and end-to-end encryption. The network is managed by our unique orchestration system that is service aware of all transmissions in the network. GlobalM makes it hassle free to easily book and configure network services via our web application panel. All service statistics from the encoder, decoders and monitoring is available for each transmission. By reducing the number of internet routing points in an SRT video stream and concentrating traffic on to an uncongested network backbone, GlobalM is able to cut latency figures making it perfect for applications such as remote production.

The GlobalM mobile app turns a smartphone into a professional video encoder. The SRT based streaming app connects automatically to the GlobalM network and does not require any stream host, port or passphrase to be entered manually by the user. Streaming in SRT from the GlobalM mobile app is as simple as opening the app and going live. Both the iOS and Android versions of the app use the phones hardware encoder producing the highest video quality from a mobile device up to bitrates of 12Mbps.
