Ningbo to be built as demonstration city for expre delivery

Recently, the State Post Bureau selected eight cities throughout the country to carry out the construction of the "express delivery demonstration city", including Suzhou, Ningbo, Dalian, Xiamen, Qingdao, etc.

As the only city in Zhejiang Province for the construction, Ningbo will aim to establish an express delivery system in line with its position as a modern international port city and a service network covering the whole country and linking with the world by solving the constraints for the express delivery industry, developing the "internet plus" express delivery, and integrating with the comprehensive traffic system in the following three to five years. By 2020, it is expected that the total express delivery volume and the business income will exceed 700 million packages ad 10 billion yuan respectively, with an annual growth rate of over 20%. As is known, in the following period, Ningbo will accelerate the integrated development of express delivery and e-commerce. Express delivery enterprises will be encouraged to take advantage of such advanced technologies as the internet, Internet of Things and cloud computing and stride into such fields as the e-commerce market and the Interne of Things finance.

The companies will also be encouraged to cooperate and serve the international cross-border e-commerce by developing the export trade, carrying out the construction of the second phase of international mail exchange and promoting the development of the local express delivery enterprises with the support of the local policies. The new supervision model for posts and express couriers will be explored to open the new channel for international mails in the East Zhejiang area, in the hope of giving the enterprises chances to go global.

Ningbo will also accelerate the construction of the comprehensive transport system for the express delivery industry. Based on the existing international hub port, the complex free road system, the multiple railroad routes and the 4E international airport, the express delivery industry will strive to coordinate with the long-distance sea freight and air freight, the medium-distance free way and railroad transport, and the short-distance free way transport, forming a three-dimensional delivery service network throughout the country and even the whole world. By speeding up the development of the multi-model express delivery businesses, the industry aims to realize the arrival of intercity packages within the day or in the next morning in a distance of no more than 1000 kilometers. In addition, Ningbo will endeavor to realize the resource sharing between post and express delivery, improve the standardized smart level of the delivery terminals, and build the security supervision system for the delivery process.

By 2020, there will be over 10 distribution centers with the area of over 10000 square meters, and 1600 express delivery service centers, with the standard rate of no less than 30%. There will be at least 10000 delivery vehicles and no less than 15000 hand-hold terminals for delivery.
