LiveU has announced that BCC Live deployed the LU900Q intelligent production unit for the first time during the 2026 Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship on April 18 in The Woodlands, Texas. The broadcast reached approximately 584,000 unique viewers who tuned in for 35 minutes or more, the largest broadcast audience in the event's history - a 30% increase over previous years.
BCC Live, based in Boulder, Colorado, used four LU900Q units with LiveU IQ (LIQ) AI-powered connectivity as part of a 10-unit LiveU field deployment across a 10-hour live broadcast. Units were placed on motorcycles traveling alongside athletes, on drones, on boats, at fixed camera locations, and on electric unicycles. Video was transmitted to BCC Live's studio in Boulder for live commentary and mixing, then distributed via YouTube, proseries.ironman.com, and DAZN, with specialized feeds for Great Britain, China, Germany, and France.
We received our LU900Q units just one week before IRONMAN Texas, and we had enough confidence in the technology to put them straight into mission-critical spots on the motos, says Dave Downey, Owner and Senior Event Specialist, BCC Live. The technology issues we normally see in productions of this scale simply went away. The LU900Q outperformed every other pack, especially under bridges and trees. This allowed our team to stop worrying about connectivity and focus on the artistry of the production - graphics, GPS tracking, and framing the perfect shot.
