Excellent trainees at SGL Carbon in Bonn

Our SGL site in Bonn looks back on a long tradition as a successful training company and also offers new training courses time and again. A new branch with a promising future is the training to become a Pr ftechnologe Keramik , a testing technologist for Ceramics, which has only been in existence since 2015 and has already produced two female graduates with outstanding achievements. In 2018, Lea Krebs was first honored as the best in Germany in her subject. Last Friday, Miriam Steffens (see photo) was now honored as the state best by the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

We are very proud that we were able to honor a national best in such a new apprenticeship at the very first attempt and this year a state best, explains Nicole Nelles, HR Manager at SGL Carbon in Bonn.

When we decided to train in the new occupational fields of chemical materials tester and testing technologist at the Bonn site in 2015, it was initially a new challenge. We had to redesign the training plan and didnt know which vocational school was responsible. We are therefore all the more pleased that the training program has been so successful from the outset. I would like to congratulate the two graduates once again, says Dirk Wolter, responsible trainer and head of the analytical laboratory at Quality Management Bonn.

The training program forms the basis for a wide range of tasks carried out in the development department (A&T FGG) to provide optimum support for the production of fine-grained graphite at the site. These include, for example, the production of trial mixtures and granules, shaping on pilot plant presses, heat treatment through to graphitization. This is followed by analysis of the test products produced. Extensive knowledge of ceramics in general and our carbon-based materials in particular is just as essential as a strong knowledge of methods and a practical understanding of production processes.

The training programs offered by SGL Carbon range from technical professions such as machine and plant operators and industrial mechanics to machining mechanics. We also provide training in the field of electrical engineering. Since we train for our own needs, we take on our trainees after they have passed their final examinations. We are looking forward to receiving numerous applications.
