Introduces new all-in-one Spatial Panner tool
Boris FX have recently announced the latest major update for their mastering and broadcast-focused DAW software. Sequoia 2026.5 introduces a new Spatial Panner that unifies the software's stereo, surround and immersive audio panning capabilities, along with a whole host of other new features and improvements.
The new Spatial Panner replaces the DAW's existing tool-switching and isolated track-by-track panning with a single visual tool that supports mono, stereo, surround and immersive 3D channel formats up to 22.2. Panning can be linked across multiple target busses, allowing one movement to update stereo, surround and immersive mixes simultaneously. Each active source features individual peak meters, solo/mute functions and track colours, and there's an optional 3D view that helps users to visualise placement and positional relationships.
Sequoia 2026.5 introduces a new Spatial Panner tool that can control everything from mono sources to immersive channel formats up to 22.2.
Sequoia 2026.5 also offers improvements to overall performance with real-time Waveform calculation during playback, an enhanced video engine, and greater plug-in compatibility. The updated video engine is said to better serve broadcast and post-production needs thanks to improved timecode sync, more flexible support for Blackmagic hardware, multi-stream audio capabilities and refined video preview. Sequoia's built-in plug-ins have also been treated to the following enhancements:
Audio Plugin Union tools benefit from a faster, smoother and more responsive experience, allowing engineers to stay focused on the creative process.
CrumplePop SoundApp ARA (a Boris FX sister product) is now available directly within Sequoia, delivering precise AI-driven stem separation and de-noising tools.
Expanded ARA2 support makes it easier to edit natively. Sequoia automatically detects and enables ARA plug-ins with full-clip analysis and processing directly in the arranger window.
We designed Sequoia 2026.5 to bring an easier, more efficient workflow to audio professionals who need a seamless end-to-end production environment as immersive audio becomes more mainstream. Our customers are already producing in 3D. The new Spatial Panner makes immersive panning fast, visual and reliable regardless of how complicated a project is. We've eliminated major pain points: you no longer need to rebuild additional mixes from scratch; one adjustment is linked across versions, while still giving users the freedom to adjust each target format individually. This is especially valuable to broadcast, radio dramas, classical and live concert recordings, dialogue and immersive music productions where objects are organised into complex spatial setups and multiple delivery formats may be expected. - Patrick Donohoe, Director of Product Marketing, Pro Audio, Boris FX
Compatibility Sequoia 2026.5 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later.
Pricing & Availability Sequoia 2026.5 is available now, priced at $595 / year or $95 / month. Those with active Sequoia or Boris FX Suite subscriptions, or with a Sequoia upgrade & support plan, will receive the 2026.5 release for free.
