Boris FX reveal Sequoia 2026.5

Introduces new all-in-one Spatial Panner tool

Boris FX have recently announced the latest major update for their mastering and broadcast-focused DAW software. Sequoia 2026.5 introduces a new Spatial Panner that unifies the software's stereo, surround and immersive audio panning capabilities, along with a whole host of other new features and improvements.

The new Spatial Panner replaces the DAW's existing tool-switching and isolated track-by-track panning with a single visual tool that supports mono, stereo, surround and immersive 3D channel formats up to 22.2. Panning can be linked across multiple target busses, allowing one movement to update stereo, surround and immersive mixes simultaneously. Each active source features individual peak meters, solo/mute functions and track colours, and there's an optional 3D view that helps users to visualise placement and positional relationships.

Sequoia 2026.5 introduces a new Spatial Panner tool that can control everything from mono sources to immersive channel formats up to 22.2.

Sequoia 2026.5 also offers improvements to overall performance with real-time Waveform calculation during playback, an enhanced video engine, and greater plug-in compatibility. The updated video engine is said to better serve broadcast and post-production needs thanks to improved timecode sync, more flexible support for Blackmagic hardware, multi-stream audio capabilities and refined video preview. Audio Plugin Union tools benefit from a faster, smoother and more responsive experience, allowing engineers to stay focused on the creative process.

CrumplePop SoundApp ARA (a Boris FX sister product) is now available directly within Sequoia, delivering precise AI-driven stem separation and de-noising tools.

Expanded ARA2 support makes it easier to edit natively. Sequoia automatically detects and enables ARA plug-ins with full-clip analysis and processing directly in the arranger window.
