WOWZA INCREASES SUPPORT FOR LOW LATENCY WORKFLOWS

Updates to Core Products to Improve Stability and Latency Performance Options LAS VEGAS NAB SHOW APRIL 10, 2018 Wowza Media Systems today announced several updates to the company's core products, aimed at supporting the future of low-latency workflows while increasing the stability of global streams. With the new releases of its Wowza Streaming Engine software and Wowza GoCoder and SDK, as well as updates to the Wowza Streaming Cloud service, the full suite of products now delivers a unified platform with more options to create scalable streaming applications.

Wowza Streaming Engine Provides More Options for Lower Latency

The company's latest updates to Wowza Streaming Engine (version 4.7.5) enhances its support for a number of low-latency workflows. As co-founder of the SRT Alliance, Wowza has continued to roll out support of the SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) protocol with midgress between Wowza Streaming Engine servers, allowing for better transmission over the public internet or suboptimal networks.

Wowza has also addressed a number of issues and limitations of the WebRTC preview. These include improved support for playing WebRTC streams in the Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers, while also improving UDP connections to increase stability and prevent stalls. As an additional option, Wowza is now offering a private preview of WebSockets delivery of the WOWZ protocol through Wowza Streaming Engine.

Ultra Low Latency Service Out of Preview

Building further upon the Wowza Streaming Cloud Ultra Low Latency Service preview announced at IBC, Wowza will be making the platform generally available for customers in the coming weeks. Developed as an API-based platform for creating tomorrow's live streaming experiences, this revolutionary service combines enterprise-level stability and uptime with interactive capabilities providing sub-two-second latency for audiences of any size.

In order to fully support playback of the Ultra Low Latency Service across mobile devices, Wowza has also updated the company's GoCoder SDK. While not all devices support playback through the HTML5-based Wowza Player, by implementing GoCoder and its SDK, developers can create native applications that support ultra-low latency delivery with high interactivity, straight out of the box.

Lastly, Wowza continues to enhance its award-winning Wowza Streaming Cloud service. Recently, the company made a number of improvements for stability, redundancy and resiliency of the platform.
