On National Geographic Channel's two-time Emmy-nominated late-night talk show StarTalk, astrophysicist and pop-culture icon Neil deGrasse Tyson bridges pop culture and science through interviews with guests from the wide world of pop culture and lively discussion with a panel of comedians and experts. This fall, National Geographic Books will publish STARTALK: Everything you Ever Need to Know About Space Travel, Sci-Fi, the Human Race, the Universe, and Beyond (ISBN: 978-1-4262-1727-2 |On sale: September 13, 2016 | Hardcover | 304 pgs | $30 ) the companion book to the hit radio-show-turned-podcast-turned-TV-show, featuring expanded and all new content.
The book takes the best of StarTalk from the airwaves to the page by taking a deeper dive into some of the greatest discussions from the show. STARTALK is divided into four sections: Space, Planet Earth, Being Human, and Futures Imagined. Within these pages, readers will discover the mystery behind black holes, real ideas for tackling climate change, what makes humans tick, and the amazing actual science behind science fiction.
In addition to the scientific questions answered throughout the text, STARTALK features informative sidebars throughout. There's Laugh Out Loud, featuring comedic bits from hilarious guests; Back to Basics to help brush readers up on some of the more complex concepts; Neil Tweets with some of his best tweets; Biography section that highlights remarkable scientists who have changed the way we view the world; and Drink of the Evening featuring cocktail recipes that Neil has concocted with bartenders at various StarTalk Live! shows.
Tyson and various guests from both the podcast and the show share their scientific insights in the book. An eclectic group of past featured guests, including Bill Nye, Jason Sudekis, Malcolm Gladwell, and Anthony Bourdain, share their thoughts on the universe. STARTALK isn't just for science lovers, it's also perfect for pop-culture enthusiasts and anyone curious about the world around us.
