A driver's license opens up new opportunities for jobs and job-seeking. This has prompted Kwazulu-Natal government to assist more than 3, 000 unemployed citizens to get their licenses legally, easily, and quickly.

Here's how to get your driver's license through the Driving Skills Programme, and when to apply for it.

Unemployed? Join the Thuthuka Driving Skills Programme According to SA Government news, the Kwazulu-Natal skills program will assist unemployed persons to get their free learners and driving licenses.

That's right: it's free, with no surprise costs.

If you'd like to get your legal driver's license, sign up to the program. It's that simple. The programme is also open to participants of all ages, and covers Code 08 to Code 14 licenses.

The Thuthuka Driving Skills Programme will help more than 3, 000 people to get their license.

Applications must be submitted before 17 October.

Why apply if you're unemployed? Do you really need a license to drive?

The answer is yes. Driving without a valid, legal license is a crime in South Africa.

Even if you are sure you're a good driver, driving without a proper license is still illegal. If you are pulled over in a vehicle without your license, you could be fined or arrested and yes, they can seize your car.

A driver's license is an important step into the job market for many people. Having a license can make it easier to apply for work, and sometimes many jobs require a license to apply.

A driver's license can open a world of new opportunities, although many people can't afford the cost associated with driving lessons and exams.

The Thuthuka Driving Skills Programme aims to create new job opportunities, making it easier for unemployed persons to find the job they want to have.
