Avid unveil Pro Tools 2025.6

Splice integration, Speech-to-Text & more

The latest version of Avid's popular DAW software has just arrived, delivering a wealth of new features for both music and post-production users. Pro Tools 2025.6 features integration with Splice, a new AI-powered Speech-to-Text function, support for a number of industry-leading post-production tools, MIDI Editor improvements and much more.

New Integrations One of the headline features is that Splice, the world's largest sample library, is now directly integrated into Pro Tools, making it possible for users to browse and import sounds without having to leave their DAW. As well as browsing the company's catalogue manually, it's possible to drag in any clip from the Pro Tools timeline and have Splice AI instantly find compatible samples that match the session's beat, key and tempo information. Users can create a free account and get access to over 2500 free samples, with access to the full library costing $12.99 per month.

Those working in post-production will be pleased to hear that Pro Tools Studio and Ultimate now boast integration with Non-Lethal Applications Cue Pro and Cargo Cult Matchbox 2.0. The former can now overlay Pro Tools' video output, offering instant visual feedback when creating and editing ADR cues, while the latter delivers a faster and more reliable reconforming process between Pro Tools Studio/Ultimate and Media Composer and other NLE software packages.

ARA integration has been expanded, too, with both Waves Sync Vx and Dreamtonics Synthesizer V now both officially supported in the latest version of Pro Tools.

Speech-to-Text Pro Tools now includes a Speech-to-Text function thats capable of detecting and transcribing words from the waveforms of dialogue and vocal tracks.

Another significant announcement is the introduction of a new Speech-to-Text function that's capable of identifying words from the waveforms of dialogue or vocal tracks. Powered by a separately installed AI/ML model, the feature makes it possible to transcribe audio via a clip or track's right-click menu, with the resulting text displayed alongside the waveform on the timeline in a new Transcription Lane - text will be locked' to its location in the audio when zooming, scrolling and editing. There's also a track-specific Transcript view, which overlays text on audio clips themselves and allows users to make edit selections by double-clicking on words, and it's possible to search by text across all audio files in a session.

MIDI & Other Improvements Avid have renamed the Event Operations section to MIDI Operations, as well as giving it a visual overhaul and placing it alongside the Tracks tab in Pro Tools' MIDI Editors. The MIDI Editors themselves have been treated to an update, too, and now support custom keyboard labels for each Instrument or MIDI track, helping users to keep track of how their sounds are laid out when working with non-traditional instruments or programming drums. The Default Thru functionality that was removed when Input Monitoring was added to Instrument Tracks has returned, and it's now possible to set any (or multiple) MIDI/Instrument tracks as a Default Thru Track. Input Monitoring has also been added to MIDI tracks. Another new addition is MIDI Live Mode, a new global setting that can be selected from the Options menu that shifts recorded data to ensure that the alignment between MIDI and audio tracks remains the same during playback as was heard during recording.

Avid have also implemented a number of general workflow improvements and valuable bug fixes. A full list of changes can be found in the Resource Centre section of the company's website.

Compatibility Pro Tools 2025.6 is supported on Macs running macOS 13.7 and higher or on PCs running Windows 10 or above.
