What drew you to live sports production, and how did you get started? (Was there a particular game or broadcast or moment from your childhood that inspired you to pursue this activity?)

In high school, one of my classes was to do an internship rather than have traditional in-class time. I was not sure exactly what I wanted to pursue as a career at that point; thus, I did not know what I was going to do as my internship. I had always loved sports, however, and I knew Monmouth University was a potential school for me to attend the following year, so I decided to intern at the MDN [Monmouth Digital Network, the school's production arm]. I never assumed this internship could amount to this much. When I decided that I was going to attend Monmouth for college, I let [Monmouth Director for Broadcast Production Andrew Kurtz] know, and he told me they would love to hire me back. Once my freshman year started, I started back at MDN almost immediately and have been working there ever since.

Are there any aha moments when you realized you loved a particular role, like directing, replay, or graphics?

I would not say that there was any one specific moment, but I have always enjoyed being Camera 1 for basketball games. I have also recently started TDing this year, which I have really enjoyed as well.

What has been your favorite project or game that you've worked on, and why?

My favorite game that I worked on was Monmouth men's basketball versus NIU in December 2023. That was the game in which Jakari Spence hit a buzzer-beater to cap an incredible comeback for Monmouth. Aside from it being an incredible basketball game, it was also a great moment for Spence, who had recently lost a family member.

What's the most challenging aspect of working in live sports production as a student?

I would say the most difficult part is the unique hours and different schedule every week. I am a fan of routine, but, due to the nature of sports, my work schedule is different depending on the week. A lot of the games are also night games, which can make for a long day if I have classes in the morning.

What are your career aspirations after graduation?

After graduation, I want to be an actuary.

What advice would you give to your freshman self?

I would tell my freshman self to have some more confidence.
