Samsung Electronics to Showcase Largest Number of LFDs at IFA 2013 on Sep 04, 2013 More than 400 commercial displays to provide exhibition visitors with an enhanced visual experience

Samsung Electronics will install over 440 large format displays (LFDs) at IFA 2013, Europe's leading exhibition of consumer electronics, running from September 6 to September 11 at the Messe in Berlin, Germany.

Phillip Gaut, Director, Enterprise Business Team, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said, IFA 2013 will be the festival of LFDs. As the company that ranked top in the world LFD market for the fifth consecutive year, Samsung Electronics is committed to delighting customers with enhanced visuals.

With the largest installation in its history, Samsung will provide exhibition visitors with dynamic information through increased visual communication. The LFDs will be installed on both sides of the Discovery Avenue' at the centre of the exhibition hall.

Samsung will install video walls using 341 units of 55 LFDs for visitors to see the products on display with greater focus and picture quality as they will be enlarged on the video walls. Additionally, the LFDs installed on the video walls feature slim bezels that minimise the boundary lines between each display. 22 units of 75 LFDs will be vertically installed at the entrance of each exhibition zone to serve as digital signage and navigation points for visitors, aiding the overall visual experience.

The visual effects are powered by Samsung's proprietary display software, MagicInfo Solution. The software makes it possible for individual content being displayed on each of the LFDs to quickly transform so the individual contents unify into a larger visual. The result is a large, unified screen made up of the individual LFD displays.

In the past, an equal number of PCs to LFDs were required to operate the MagicInfo Solution. This number has been significantly reduced and users can now easily adjust videos and images to show content in several hundred screens uniformly.

The installation at IFA 2013 is the largest number of LFDs that Samsung has fitted at an exhibition; in 2010, about 200 LFDs were installed at the Shanghai Expo in Shanghai, China.
