Schneider Electric launches their latest residential circuit protection system, Resi9 Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland

Download PDF Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has today announced the launch of Resi9, a range of electrical consumer units that provide the highest level of residential circuit protection safety to date.
The offer comprises of an expanded enclosure system, which now includes 18 mod wide surface mounted units, along with the newly added flush mounted enclosures. Included in the new launch is a full suite of protective devices, which includes, MCB's, RCBO's, RCCB's & SPD. The Resi9 range is the first end-to-end offer from Schneider available in the Irish market, and it is a key steppingstone to the rollout of Schneider Electric's full suite of connected products for homes. The launch further cements Schneider Electric's position in Ireland as a Green Premium Eco Label, echoing their commitment to delivering customer-valued sustainable performance.
The launch of Resi9 is timely as Ireland transitions from its fourth edition of the installation standards to the fifth edition, I.S.10101:2020. The new standard has been produced by industry experts from the NSAI's Electro Technical Committee (ETC/TC 2) which has replaced ET 101:2008. The standards include requirements for designing and installing all types of electrical installations, including housing, hospitals, agricultural buildings, caravans, construction sites, industrial premises, and swimming pools.
Since February 2021, all new systems must be designed and installed in compliance with the new standard, including fitting a Surge Protective Devices (SPD). This component protects against electrical voltage spikes in alternating current circuits. A key feature of the Resi9 range is that it has combined protection, which means that protection for the SPD is embedded within one single device instead of requiring two separate devices, making it smaller, more accessible, and quicker for electricians to install.
The new Resi9 offer range provides the following benefits:
Unrivalled time saving: The enclosures DIN rails can be easily removed and re-installed without the need for tools. It also comes with 35% more space under the rails than the average unit available in the market, giving better access for the electrician to install and manage cables. The Earth and Neutral terminal blocks are quick connect push in connections further reducing the time to install.
Adapted to the regulations: Resi9 addresses the requirements laid out by the new Irish Standards with systems testing carried out on the products to IS EN 61439-3 ensuring optimal user safety.
Commenting on the launch, irin Madden, Offer Marketing Manager at Schneider Electric, said, The launch of Resi9 in Ireland provides a unique opportunity for Schneider Electric as a global market leader to facilitate the residential sector in Ireland with the required devices set out in the new installation standards. It also ensures the electrical contractors working in the segment have access to a product that will make their life easier and safer with a product they can trust. With a predicted 34,000 new dwellings a year needed to address the housing demand in Ireland, all of which will need to be fit for purpose and congruent with the new requirements, there is not a better option on the market.
Donal Cronin, Electrician at Cronin Electrical said, As you would expect from Schneider Electric, the build quality is really good. This is a high-quality product with greater board selection than was previously available. The Resi9 enclosure has noticeably more room compared to other units on the market which makes it very easy to work with .
