Compact, lightweight and rugged - the new FUJIFILM FinePix XP90
15.01.2016
FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is proud to announce the new FinePix XP90. Featuring four rugged protection features, it is ideal for holidays and outdoor leisure activities. Weighing just 203g*1, the XP90's compact and lightweight body also comes equipped with a high definition FUJINON lens and delivers high quality images thanks to Fujifilm's unique colour reproduction technology.
FinePix XP90 key features:
Waterproof to 50ft/15m, Shockproof to 5.8ft/1.75m, Freezeproof to 14 F/-10 C and Dustproof
Interval Timer Shooting and Time-Lapse Movie function
Wireless connectivity with smartphones and tablets
Full HD movie capture
16.4 megapixel 1/2.3 inch BSI CMOS sensor
5x optical zoom with 28mm wide-angle setting
Optical Image Stabilisation
11 Advanced Art Filters
High Dynamic Range (HDR) capture
Motion Panorama 360
Supremely tough on four different levels Ideal for snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking and other outdoor leisure activities, the FinePix XP90 complies with IP68 standards*2. This means it is waterproof to 50ft/15m, can withstand a drop of up to 5.8ft/1.75m*3, will still operate in temperatures as low as 14 F/-10 C and is dustproof to prevent the intrusion of dust or sand. Further protection from the elements is offered by the double-locking mechanism that prevents accidental opening of the battery/memory card compartment, plus there is a front grip and thumb rest for assured handling.
High-speed performance and shooting functions deliver great results The XP90 uses a 1/2.3-inch 16.4 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor for impressive results in a wide range of conditions. Coupled with a powerful processor, the camera delivers high quality images at a rapid rate; capturing images at up to 10 frames-per-second (fps) at full resolution and an incredible 60 fps at reduced resolution (2MP). Users wanting to take advantage of these quick speeds can do so quickly and easily thanks to the dedicated continuous shooting button on the back of the camera.
In addition, the XP90 also comes equipped with an Interval Timer for shooting images at set intervals of 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 60 seconds, 30 seconds and 15 seconds and a Time-Lapse Video function, which automatically converts the sequences of images into a video. These two functions allow for capturing transitions, such as sunsets or flowers opening. Frame rates of 10 fps, 30fps or 60fps can be selected along with three different types of movie size, including Full HD.
High quality, sharp images The XP90 offers a 5x optical zoom lens that includes a 28mm*4 wide-angle setting for sweeping landscape and scenic shots. The optical zoom range can be doubled to 10x with Fujifilm's Intelligent Digital Zoom technology, while the camera's Optical Image Stabilisation function ensures that any effects from camera shake are minimised.
Compact and versatile The FinePix XP90 weighs just 203g, including the battery and memory card, so it is easy to carry and will fit into the corner of any bag. Despite its compact size, the XP90 comes equipped with a 3.0-inch 920K dot high-definition LCD monitor making it easy to shoot and view images. The LCD also features an anti-reflective coating, which displays a clear image even in bright sunlight or underwater. LCD monitor brightness automatically adjusts according to ambient light levels, maintaining optimal visibility and preventing unnecessary battery drain.
The size and position of function buttons ensures easy operation, even when wearing gloves, plus there's a large enough grip for one-handed operation.
Remote shooting plus instant image and movie sharing The FinePix XP90 comes equipped with wireless functionality for remote shooting with the free Fujifilm Camera Remote app. Just press the dedicated Wi-Fi button on the camera to make the most of the camera's wireless functionality, which not only includes shooting remotely from a device, but also zooming in or out to fine-tune compositions and shoot movies.
In addition to remote shooting, the XP90's wireless connectivity also allows users to select images or movies*5 to be transferred to a smartphone, tablet*6, or PC.
Enhanced movie shooting functions The XP90 offers Full HD movie capture (1920 x 1080) and it has Scene Recognition for optimum settings and Advanced Filters to create eye-catching effects. Wind noise - often a problem with outdoor movie recording - is reduced by selecting the Wind Filter setting. Recording the movies themselves is simple with the dedicated movie button and there are even some in-camera editing functions, including Movie Trimming for removal of unwanted sections and Movie Join which combines separate movies into one file.
Versatile shooting functions Further picture-taking versatility is offered by the Scene Recognition mode that quickly assesses the scene being photographed before optimising focus, exposure and shutter speed settings for the best possible result. Underwater and underwater macro functions are also available, underlining the XP90's all-action credentials.
Further creativity is offered by 11 Advanced Filter functions (see list below), while multi-frame processing is used to capture two or more shots for a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image that preserves detail in both shadows and highlights. Finally, the Motion Panorama 360 function offers the chance to capture superb panoramic shots at the touch of a button.
The 11 Advanced Filter functions on the XP90 are:
Sketch creates line-drawing-like pictures
Pop Colour emphasises contrast and colour saturation
Soft Focus creates an overall soft look to the images
Low-Key darkens tones
High-Key enhances brightness and reduces contrast to lighten tones
Toy Camera creates a shaded border as if the picture was ta
