Mike Mundt, who played a major role in the sports production community during his days at NCP as director of engineering, passed away earlier this month. He was 67 and is survived by his wife Janet, two children, a granddaughter, his mother, and three siblings.

Mike Mundt helped make NCP one of the leaders in remote production facilities in the U.S.

Born in Moscow, Idaho, in 1953, he graduated from the University of Idaho in 1976 with scholastic emphasis in Architecture, Electronics, Engineering, and Broadcast Communications. His early broadcast career was as a Broadcast Engineer for KUID-TV and as an instructor of Broadcast Communications for U of I. He was an avid artist who had a long running comic strip for the University's student paper, The Argonaut. The comic Macklin ran from 1973 through 1985. In 1986 he moved his family from Idaho to Maine taking a position with WENH-TV in Durham, NH. The very next year he was hired by New Century Productions of Allentown, PA where he began his stellar career in running, designing, and building some of the most innovative remote broadcast television trucks in the industry for their time.

He continued on his path of innovation, cutting edge technology and designs for live broadcast until he retired in 2017. His passion for teaching continued throughout his career, he loved to take people under his wing and teach them everything he knew so they could aspire to creative greatness of their own.

Broadcast Engineering and art were not his only passions. He had a love for nearly all things historical and was a member of the Lebanon Historical Society. Steam trains, antique tractors, bulldozers, any type of farm or logging equipment brought a smile to his face. He loved being outdoors in the woods, in a garden, at a ranch, hiking, canoeing, or just flying a kite at the beach.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Mundt was an avid Science fiction buff. He tore through books and loved everything to do with the NASA program.

A memorial service will be held at Nute Ridge Bible Chapel in Milton, NH on Saturday, May 22nd at 1pm. Due to Covid seating is limited.
