The latest figures from the Television Audience Measurement (TAM) by the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) reveal that Umkhokha: The Curse is still the most-watched TV show on DStv.

UMKHOKHA: THE CURSE' MAINTAINS FIRST PLACE BRCSA October 2023 figures also reveal that Mzansi Magic's telenovela Qgeberha: The Empire is the second most-watched TV show on DStv with 914 651 viewers while Umkhokha: The Curse is the most-watched TV show on DStv with 1 022 039 viewers.

The October figures also reveal that Uyajola 9/9 is now the third-most-watched show with 887 141 while Rythm World's new telenovela, My Brother's Keeper gains fifth position with 774 542 viewers.

The faith-based series which aired its first episode in October 2021 as Umkhokha returned in March 2023 as a telenovela titled Umkhokha - The Curse.

South Africans can't get enough of the faith-based telenovela which focuses on a gigantic church in KwaZulu-Natal, Ithempeli Lenkosi and stars Deli Malinga as MaMzobe, Sibongile Ngubane as Difa, Nay Maps as Sphamandla, Hope Mbhele as Mabusi and many more.

The show trended endlessly on social media in October when fan-favourite character Mamzobe (played by Deli Malinga) accidentally killed her unborn grandson.

DSTV VIEWERS REACT TO FIGURES AND STORYLINES @Sbusisi94069532: I noticed later but, I'm one of those millions, the series is fire. Can they also make Sibongile and the Dlamini five days a week too, please?

@Mandla_Mongo: But we are tired of the Mamzobe character it seems she always get away with her evil doings without even being caught.

@BomboTshazi3: It truly deserves this accolade it's the best show in Mzansi period.

@MavoSthe: Yup. They having revealed the maternity and all recently, Im struggling to see them creating another future plot that will keep us in suspense but lets wait and see. Unless, of course, #Mamzobe starts shooting some people.

@OupaMnguni: UMkhokha is a very demanding soapy from an actor/character perspective, not only does it require talented but also seasoned actors. But unfortunately, Gabi is still new to live up their character demands. She will get better I think.
