As the InAVation Awards gets set to return to the Gashouder in Amsterdam on February 9, 2016, a quick catch up with attendees and winners from last year's event reveals why it's the hottest ticket during ISE.

Industry awards should be an important endorsement of skills in specialist areas and demonstrate achievement in the eyes of industry professionals and peers.

With an international audience, a public voting system (weighted by job function) and clearly defined streams to recognise integration and project management skill, technical development and distribution services; the InAVation Awards has for eight years successfully met these ideals.

We all integrators and AV professionals carry an important mission of education and promotion of professional AV and industry innovation, notes Elena Novikova, CEO of Polymedia. InAVation Awards in this regard is an indicator of the professionalism and the importance of the market.

Sami Nazzal, from Jordanian integration firm International New Technical Est (INTE), was a 2015 runner up in the Leisure and Entertainment category and was named the 2015 Project Manager of the Year.

For him the possibility of recognition within the InAVation Awards provided motivation when working on a challenging project as well as satisfaction of a job well done. Finally it's obviously a great marketing tool, he adds.

Successful projects also often gain exposure within InAVate magazine. The interview and the article/video are still very good reference materials, notes Lars Hammarlund, CEO of Visuell Design and winner of the 2015 corporate installation category for the company's work at Sandvik Coromant in Sweden.

We are going to show the prizes and the articles next week in a smaller, local exhibition in Sandviken, [the town where the installation was carried out]. And Sandvik also borrowed them a couple of weeks ago in another local exhibition to show a good example of partnership with a local dealer, he notes.

It's an important point that demonstrates the value of InAVation Awards in the eyes of the user community and is backed up by Polymedia's Novikova.

Clients of the project-winners are also paying a close attention to the award. For example, Akim (governor) of Kyzylorda region was very proud that his situation centre received the 2015 InAVation Award and even showed it to the President of Kazakhstan when he was on an official visit in the region. He told us it is very important for him that the project has won, competing against situation centres created by integrators from the UK, Russia and Bahrain.

In addition to the ongoing value of InAVation Awards, the night has become a highlight of the week when the ISE show takes over Amsterdam. Whilst the Awards remains an independent endorsement of professional AV skill it has always had a close association with ISE, which this year has been strengthened to formally become the InAVation Awards powered by InAVate and ISE.

The final word goes to Mike Blackman, managing director of ISE: The InAVation Awards has become a highly anticipated networking evening and importantly a chance for relaxation and enjoyment during a busy exhibition.

The awards themselves are highly regarded by the international AV community and ISE are pleased to be closely associated to this important industry event.
