SuperSport gives 2014 FIFA World Cup viewers an integrated digital experience --

SuperSport will broadcast the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which begins on 12 June in Brazil, across multiple platforms and will focus on digital content delivery in the build-up and duration of the event through augmented reality, live streaming and behind-the-scenes pictures and videos of the channels expert panel.

Brandon Foot, SuperSport s Acting CEO said, We appreciate the need to supply fans with the most engaging, interactive, up-to-date and shareable content in the quickest time. Fortunately, we have the team and platforms to deliver a world-class digital offering for the world s largest tournament.

Online users will be able to engage with live broadcasts and the studio panel of experts, which includes Manchester United assistant manager Ryan Giggs, Premier League host John Dykes and former star John Barnes, by using the hashtag #SSFootball.

Part of SuperSport s digital initiative is active in real-time social interaction and engagement with its 5,5 million-strong Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google and WeChat fan base, one of the largest social audiences on the continent. Taking advantage of second screen interaction during key matches, the channel will be using action imagery surrounding the live event, to create fan engagement and content sharability.

In a continent first, the World of Champions presentation will utilise groundbreaking technology and high-end graphics in order to offer viewers 3-D representations of all stadiums and subsequent expert game analysis.

Awareness will be further enhanced by SuperSport s YouTube channel, which will be used to create and distribute content to multiple social influencers and industry leaders.

The website, available on traditional and mobile platforms, will have a dedicated FIFA World Cup section which will include in-depth information pertaining to matches, teams, players, stadiums, cities, as well as up-to-the minute news, highlights and live streaming.

DStv Premium subscribers can live-stream every FIFA World Cup match by logging into their DStv Connect accounts while those with PVR access will be able to view match highlights on the DStv Catch-Up service. DStv Explora PVR viewers will have access to extended Catch-Up content including multiple duration match highlights, historical World Cup matches, additional content from Brazil and full length matches On Demand from the quarter finals onwards.

The SuperSport app for Apple and Android has recently been updated to include news, fixtures, video highlights, social engagement and much more.
