
T-Mobile buys Layer3 TV and enters the market of pay-TV in United StatesThe operation valued at more than 100,000 million dollars will mean the entry of the German mobile network operator T-Mobile in the U.S. television market in the hands of this provider of television services currently only providing services in Chicago and Washington. The objective will be to create its own TV platform in 2018.
The CEO of T-Mobile USA, John Legere, has revealed the next stage in its mobile video strategy, announcing plans to launch a new disruptive service in 2018. To encourage this, Legere has also revealed that the "Un-carrier" has signed a definitive agreement for the acquisition of television technology innovator Layer3 Tv and that it will work with the forefront of Layer3 TV talent and technology to create the new T-Mobile television service.
Legere said that "people love your TV, but hates their TV service providers. And worse still, do not have a real option more to accept it: evil service customers, clumsy technology and outrageous bills saturated charges! There entered us. We are going to solve the critical points and offer consumers a real choice in the country. Makes perfect sense that the Un-carrier make the television service what we are doing to the mobile service: change it forever! Personally, I am very eager to fight for consumers in this!"
Mike Sievert, director of operations for T-Mobile, acknowledges that "we are in the middle of the golden age of TV; However, the people had never been so frustrated by the status quo that Big Cable and satellite television have been created. This is because the world is changing: mobile video, streaming services, the release of services by cable, content, original and more; and yet, the old guard cannot (or does not) evolve. It is time for a disruptor shake things and give people a real choice how only the Un-carrier can do it."
Currently, Layer3 TV offers a product that integrates in a imperceptible way best of television, online video and social media content streaming and is available in five cities of the country. With leading technology and talented team of Layer3 TV, T-Mobile plans to launch his own brand new disruptive TV service year entering, accessing the amazing content available with its creators currently to distort the distribution model of tradition satellite television and cable companies.
