FilmLight strengens presence in Far East

Opens office in Tokyo for sales, localisation and support; exhibits at InterBEE 2013

As part of its programme to ensure consistently high standards of service to its professional users worldwide, FilmLight has opened an office in Tokyo and appointed Koichi Matsui to spearhead its activities in the country and the wider South-East Asia region. One of Matsui's first acts will be to manage the company's presence at InterBEE (13 to 15 November, Makuhari Messe, stand 7307).

We already have key customers in Japan and the surrounding countries, and interest is growing rapidly as post-production facilities recognise the workflow benefits as well as the creative capabilities of FilmLight, Matsui said. Having a permanent base here gives us the opportunity for training and support as well as demonstrations and sales, and in time we look forward to welcoming all the major players to FilmLight in Tokyo.

The Japanese government recently placed higher resolution TV broadcasting on the roadmap for the coming years and aims to have both 4K and 8K capable TV sets in the home by 2020 - in time for the Tokyo Olympics. The local office will enable FilmLight to effectively market the products and solutions available to support these growing trends.

Reflecting the latest technical trends in movie production, at InterBEE FilmLight will be showcasing the latest functionality for the Baselight grading platform, including a 4K|60p high frame rate workflow. Also on display will be Baselight FLIP, the on-set visualisation device that applies looks and grades to raw camera outputs, which can be further adjusted and refined live onset.

As well as the FilmLight stand (7307), the company is working with partner Hoei Sangyo, FilmLight's long-established distributor in Japan. On the Hoei Sangyo stand (8135) InterBEE visitors will be able to see the latest generation of Baselight TWO.
