Open Media Centre in the Host Cities

(31/05/2014) National and international media visiting Rio de Janeiro for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil will have access to the Open Media Centre (OMC), located at the Forte de Copacabana, from June 9 until July 14, 2014. The Open Media Centre is a multipurpose space with customized facilities and services for press professionals, including free broadband internet connectivity, workstations with equipment for shared use, multiple television screens to follow the matches, an auditorium for press conferences and briefings, radio studios, broadcasting services and locations for shooting footage.

Journalists interested in using the space are not required to have official accreditation from FIFA, and FIFA-accredited press may also use the OMCs services. The Open Media Centre will have a team on-hand to provide information about Brazil and the World Cup host cities in Portuguese, English and Spanish. A number of activities will be held at the OMC, including interviews and press briefings on various issues, cultural events and organized visits to Rio de Janeiro landmarks.
