GSMA Announces First Details for MWC Shanghai 2020

Newly Introduced 5G IN Exhibition Hall Powered by 4YFN

Hong Kong: The GSMA today announced the first details of MWC Shanghai 2020, including participating companies, as well as a wide range of programmes and activities taking place at the annual mobile industry event. MWC Shanghai 2020 will be held from Tuesday to Thursday, 30 June to 2 July 2020 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), with events also at the Kerry Hotel Pudong and Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel. The GSMA expects more than 75,000 professionals from across the mobile ecosystem and vertical industry sectors will attend the event.

We are excited to be returning to China next year, one of the world's pioneering 5G markets, for another packed MWC Shanghai, said John Hoffman, CEO, GSMA Ltd. This year the theme of the event is Limitless Intelligent Connectivity'. We will explore how 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Big Data are critical to every industry to enable them to unlock the full power and potential of connectivity so that people, industry and society thrive in the new 5G era.

5G IN Exhibition Hall Powered by 4YFN

Newly introduced for 2020, the 5G IN (Innovation and Investment) Exhibition Hall is part of the 5G Innovation and Investment Group initiative, launched in China by the GSMA in September 2019. Building on the success of 4 Years From Now (4YFN), 5G IN provides a unique international business platform that unites the most talented and advanced tech start-ups with key investors that are focused in the emerging technologies of 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), among others. The Hall will include a mix of activities including summits, pitching platforms and investor tours that provide the best 5G opportunities for the start-up community. Twelve companies have joined the 5G IN Group as founding members including China Broadband Capital, China Mobile Capital, China Mobile Fund Management, CSDN, China Telecom Investment, China Unicom Capital Investment, Deloitte China, Huawei, Mount Morning Capital, Orient Securities Capital Investment, Shenzhen Valley Ventures and ZTE.

Prominent Companies Showcase Latest Innovations

Covering eight halls at the SNIEC, MWC Shanghai will feature the leading products, services and technologies that are shaping the digital future across both the mobile ecosystem as well as adjacent industry sectors such as automotive, manufacturing and retail. Returning companies including Anritsu, AsiaInfo, BICS, CITIC Telecom, China Information Communication Technologies (CICT), China Transport Telecommunication Information Group (CTTIC), Comba Telecom, Ericsson, Giesecke+Devrient, Huawei, New H3C Technologies, Nokia Shanghai Bell, OPPO, Qualcomm, Samsung LSI, Sony, TUV Rhineland, VIAVI, vivo, Whale Cloud and ZTE, among others. Key exhibition features include the Super Hall, where the industry's most significant players will gather, and dedicated areas such as Future Mobility Zone, Internet of Things Zone, and many more.

Conference Programme to Explore Trending Topics in Mobile

The Conference Programme at MWC Shanghai builds on major themes surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI), Connectivity including, The 5G Era, Customer Engagement, Industry X, Our Planet and Privacy and Security. The Call for Speakers for MWC Shanghai is now open, and prospective speakers can submit proposals until Thursday, 30 January 2020. In addition to the keynotes, forums and seminars, the Future Mobility Stage and Leaders Stage are unique parts of the Conference Programme at MWC Shanghai. The Future Mobility Stage will examine the disruptive catalysts of change in the future mobility ecosystem and explore how OEMs and new entrants alike should position themselves in the market to take advantage of new growth opportunities. The Leaders Stage highlights wide-ranging trends that are shaping the mobile future and impacting everyday lives, including Blockchain, customer engagement, drones and aviation, greentech and retail, among others in a lively atmosphere through demonstrations, interviews, fast pitches and more.

Digital Leaders and Women4Tech Programmes Return

Debuted in 2019, the Digital Leaders Programme will continue to convene influential global leaders across the broader mobile ecosystem and vertical industries, where they can discuss how to make a positive impact on the digital future. There will be a series of CEO activities including closed-door roundtables, presentations and networking.

Back for its third year, with a renewed and expanded focus, Women4Tech Shanghai will showcase the trailblazing individuals and organisations from across the Asia Pacific region who are advocating for diversity and inclusion to be a business imperative. Women4Tech Shanghai will provide opportunities for under-represented women and a series of inspiring case studies regarding equality in the workplace and authentic leadership.

MWC Shanghai: Largest Carbon Neutral Exhibition and Conference in Asia

MWC Shanghai has been officially certified by AENOR International as carbon neutral under the international PAS 2060 standard, reinforcing its position as the largest carbon neutral exhibition and conference in Asia. The GSMA implemented a range of measures to reduce emissions for MWC19 Shanghai, resulting in a greenhouse gas reduction of more than 90 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. To compensate for the remaining carbon footprint, the GSMA is supporting the United Nations-certified projects, including an N2O decomposition project in Liaoyang, a Hydropower project in Aketao, China and a Hydro-electric project in Cambodia.
