As springtime's rain wanes, the month of June has almost always ushered in the start of summer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere, especially in GoPro's home of the San Francisco Bay Area. June, too, ushers in a familiar sight of the summer in San Francisco-and around the globe-with the red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple of the pride flag.
In the United States, Pride is celebrated in June in memory of the June 1969 Stonewall riots, but Pride is celebrated throughout the year, and around the world, in celebration of the LGBTQ community.
GoPro is excited to be participating once again in the Pride activities going on around the world. Kicking off at our GoPro headquarters, employees, family and friends will be walking in the 49th Annual San Francisco Pride Parade on June 30. SF Pride is the largest gathering of the LGBTQ community and allies in the nation, and one of the strongest showings of a community coming together to celebrate equality and diversity.
Across the pond, GoPro Munich employees, along with friends and family, will also be walking in the Munich Pride Parade and Christopher Street Day celebrations on July 13. Around the world, the extended GoPro family will also be joining their respective city's Pride celebrations.
Since the inception of GoPro, diversity, inclusion and belonging have been central to GoPro serving as a platform for positivity and sharing all things awesome in the world. We stand with the LGBTQ community this month-and all months. We celebrate diversity. We practice inclusion. We foster belonging. We demand equality. And we share the experiences of individuals and communities who also hold these values as core to who they are.
From S o Paolo to Munich, Silicon Valley to Shenzhen, we are dedicated to building a company that reflects and honors the diverse global communities where we live, work, and play. And as a thank you for keeping the GoPro Fam true to these values, each employee participating in Pride celebrations will receive an ultra-limited, GoPro-employee-only, multi-colored, Pride-themed Sleeve Lanyard.
