Telenor Group announces new CEOs in dtac and Digi Press Releases: 12 February 2015
Telenor Group today announced the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers (CEO) in dtac in Thailand and Digi in Malaysia, effective April 1, 2015. Lars- ke Norling, currently the CEO of Digi.Com Berhad assumes the role as new CEO in Total Access Communication PCL (dtac). Albern Murty, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Digi, steps up to become the company's new CEO.
dtac and Digi are well-positioned in their respective markets to capture further growth by delivering on the strategic internet for all ambition. Sigve Brekke will step down as interim CEO in dtac and return to focusing on his role as Executive Vice President and Head of region Asia, Telenor Group. He continues to serve as Vice-Chairman in dtac's Board of Directors.
I'm pleased to announce the appointment of some of Telenor Group's most experienced executives to our two biggest companies in Asia. dtac is currently in the middle of a major drive to become Thailand's leading internet provider and Lars- ke brings all the vital competencies required to continue that journey. Albern has grown through the ranks of Digi, contributing strongly to the company's relentless customer focus and its innovative internet for all approach. As such, Lars- ke and Albern represent the best of our leadership DNA and I'm confident that they will deliver continued growth in dtac and Digi, says Sigve Brekke, EVP and Head of Telenor Group in Asia.
Lars- ke Norling brings significant industry experience to dtac. He joined Digi as CEO in August 2014, where he has overseen the company's strong development in revenues and overall market position. Previous to Digi, Lars ke was CEO in Telenor Sweden from 2009 to 2014 and served as their CTO from 2007 to 2009. He has also held a number of executive positions in the fixed broadband provider Bredbandsbolaget in Sweden, as well as in Ericsson.
Albern Murty has spent the last 13 years in a variety of senior executive roles in Digi. In January 2014, Albern became the company's COO after serving as Chief Marketing Officer for a number of years. Before Digi, his previous experience includes business and commercial management roles in Lucent Technologies across the Asian region.
Sigve Brekke stepped in as interim CEO in dtac in September 2014:
Over the last six months we have set a new direction for dtac: to become the leading internet operator in the market by delivering the best internet network to the data-loving Thai consumers. This ambition is supported by a significant network expansion drive, service innovations and business transformation programs. I will work closely with dtac's management team in strengthening the company's position as a digital frontrunner and to play our part in building Thailand's Digital Economy, says Sigve Brekke.
