Gulou Yan Historic Cultural Block is on the newly published list of the third batch of Zhejiang Provincial Characteristic Commercial Demonstration Street. By now, Ningbo has had five Provincial Characteristic Commercial Demonstration Streets.
Ningbo Wanda Plaza
Located in the core area of Yinzhou District, Ningbo Wanda Plaza is a large-scale urban building complex composed by three major functional blocks: the International shopping plaza, International commercial hotels and upscale apartments. It covers a total construction area of 550,000 square meters, including commercial plaza area of 270,000 square meters. There is a Wal-Mart Supermarket, Flyhigh Playland, Wanda Cinema, Intime and others in the Ningbo Wanda Plaza, which is a good place for leisure, entertainment and shopping.
Ningbo Old Bund
Ningbo Old Bund is located in the center of Ningbo. It is one of the remaining bunds with several hundred years of history in China. By preserving historical buildings and neighborhoods and adding new urban culture, Ningbo Old Bund combines the profound history and development planning perfectly. Cultural relics, old buildings, not so old buildings and new buildings witness different periods of history. Today's Old Bund is a modern center for food, housing, leisure, shopping, and entertainment.
In 2010, Ningbo Old Bund was listed in the first batch of Zhejiang Provincial Characteristic Commercial Demonstration Street.
In 2015, Ningbo Old Bund was upgraded as the China Famous Commercial District, the only district nationwide granted such an honor in 2015. There are only 34 street blocks in China with such an honor, that is, Ningbo has a street block which is as equally famous as Wangfujin in Beijing and the Confucius Temple in Nanjing.
Tianyi Square
Tianyi Square is located in the south of Zhongshan Road, the famous downtown commercial street, and covers an area of 200,000 square meters. The body part of Tianyi Square is composed by 22 modern buildings of European style. The total construction area is 220,000 square meters with the central square of 35,000 square meters and the water landscape of 6,000 square meters. It also has a 200-meter-long musical fountain with the highest gush of 40 meters and a 20-meters-high and 60-meter-wide water screen movie.
Presently, Tianyi Square is the largest one stop shopping plaza in China and is a first-class commercial plaza for finance, leisure, commerce, tourism, food and shopping.
Night City on River
Night City on River has a unique geographical location. It is located in the junction of Yinzhou District, Jiangdong District and Haishu District. On the one side of Fenghua River, it is close to Changfeng Bridge and the planning Xindian Briage. It is the first characteristic street block developed and operated by the government on its own.
Night City on River covers a total area of about 68,000 square meters and a total construction area of about 53,000 square meters. The overall environment of Night City on River is elegant and comfortable. It has more than 800 commercial parking spaces. The form and space layout of Night City on River, such as the courtyard and roadway, are typically South China Style. In the street block, there are many high-end brands, all working together to build a leisure and entertainment industry chain of restaurants, bars, KTV, hotels and other business formats. It has become a new landmark of Ningbo fashionable night life.
Gulou Yan Historic Cultural Block
Ningbo Drum Tower was built in the year of 821 in the Tang Dynasty. It is a symbol of Ningbo being set as a city.
In June 2012, Ningbo Drum Tower began its transformation and upgrading. In February 2013, the new Drum Tower Pedestrian Street unveiled its appearance. The whole street was decorated with large red lanterns with shops of very traditional architectural style on both sides. It also has an archway with four characters Si Ming Da Guan and a two-store ancient stage. The new Drum Tower was renamed Gulou Yan Historic Cultural Block and once again becomes a good place for leisure and entertainment.
