Vidcheck QA Muscle Added to EditShare Flow

EditShare has chosen Vidchecks Vidchecker file-based quality assurance solution for full integration with the Editshare Flow production asset management platform. The combination of Vidchecker and Flow will be introduced by EditShare on stand 7.G37 at IBC2016 in September.

Vidchecker is used by many broadcasters and postproduction facilities in America and Europe, comments Matthew Hallin, Video Group Technical Director at EditShare. It has become the de facto standard for quality control of file-based video and audio content here in the UK. Integrating Vidchecker will enable operators of our Flow content management system to check the technical quality of their video and audio throughput far more effectively and efficiently than by the usual process of viewing random selections of a programme or clip. It also checks the relevant metadata. Sections of clips that require attention are marked and tagged with metadata relating to the QA test failure to make the review process simple and easy. Partnering with Vidcheck gives our customers easy access to market-leading tools for reporting on technical factors likely to need attention, allowing creatives to focus on editorial and production issues more appropriate to their human skills. Vidchecker can also be set to perform intelligent automatic correction which it does uniquely well.

Combining the Vidchecker toolset with EditShares Flow media asset management platform creates a very powerful system which can process, inspect and where necessary repair 4K, HD and SD content, adds Vidcheck COO Howard Twine. Designed for checking and repairing file-based video, audio and related metadata before and after distribution, Vidchecker is also used to ensure that the metadata, video and audio parameters and levels of media files received by broadcasters from postproduction companies and content owners are correct for general transmission. Vidchecker provides a highly efficient server-based alternative to checking conformance by eye and hand. Vidchecker can automatically and intelligently correct video and audio levels, including peak audio attenuation, and perform automatic video segment detection. Sub-SD, SD, HD, UHD, 4K, 8K and mixed workflows are supported. Alerts can be accessed in practically any language. The Vidchecker GUI is accessed through a web browser either on the local machine or remotely over a network. Automated error correction options mean that detection and correction can be combined in a single uniquely powerful application.
