The 2017 IBC Show is winding down, but the SVG Europe and SVG Americas editorial teams are still out in full force, covering all the latest news from the show floor. IBC in full swing as show continues to grow At an IBC press conference in Amsterdam Saturday morning, Chief Executive Michael Crimp told the audience that the show remains on a growth path. Registration are 4.7% up on last year, which was a record year for IBC. We are predicting that we will be 2.5% up on 2016 overall - although it might be a little more than that. IBC Exhibition Chairman Roger Thornton said 53,000 square metres of exhibit space has been booked, a new record for IBC; this is an increase of 800 square metres on 2016. Over 1700 exhibitors are here -including 264 new companies exhibiting. My message is, really, that IBC continues to grow.

Evertz rolled out Dreamcatcher 1 Evertz rolled out Dreamcatcher 1 this week, a system that Bob Fung, Evertz marketing manager, says is another point of entry for users. It has all of the core features and is targeted towards smaller productions that need two or three systems, he said. It's a live production solution that uses the same hardware as the 400 series so it is also fully upgradeable. And Evertz also continues to put IP-based systems front and centre, including the Vue context oriented user interface.

Vue in its simplest form is a tool for creating custom graphical user interfaces by taking what is typically a complex orchestration layer [for IP routing] and taking a prescriptive approach to the workflow that differs from the traditional linear thinking [of baseband routing], he explains.
