Telemetrics Designed Ballpark Cam System Wins Prestigious Edison Award Camera Robotic/Control System for Major League Baseball Network Named Mass Media Gold Winner

Mahwah, NJ (November 13, 2012) Telemetrics has announced that its one-of-a-kind camera system developed for MLB Network has won gold at the eminent Edison Awards. The ballpark cam system was named the mass media gold winner in the Media/Visual Communication category of the Edison Awards, which for 25 years have honored the best in innovation and excellence in the development of new products and services.

The ballpark cam system is a network of cameras installed at all 30 ballparks throughout Major League Baseball and controlled remotely from MLB Network's studios in Secaucus, New Jersey. The Telemetrics system provides MLB Network with access to live coverage of batting practice, pre- and postgame interviews and updates of games in progress, across all of its studio programming.

Having the ballpark cam system win an Edison Award is particularly special because it comes from industry peers, said Anthony Cuomo, Vice President and General Manager, Telemetrics Inc. Our objective is to help customers realize the cost efficiencies and benefits of camera robotics and control systems in a broadcast production environment.

Each ballpark is outfitted with two cameras a dugout camera that is mounted to a Telemetrics Televator EP- S3 Weatherproof Elevating Pedestal, which is a remotely controlled motorized column that can be quickly elevated in height from 4 to 12 feet; and a centerfield camera mounted on a Telemetrics PT-LWP-S3 Weatherproof Pan/Tilt Head which features shot convergence technology. Camera feeds are transmitted to Secaucus in HD format over dedicated high speed fiber, with communication between the devices enabled by Telemetrics DS-4 Device Servers.

In Secaucus, a Telemetrics custom-designed remote control panel screen can simultaneously display up to 16 ballparks in a 4 x 4 matrix with unified pan/tilt/zoom and focus control for every camera, as well as heater, blower and wiper controls. Operational status is programmed into the system and issues such as communication link problems will show on the indicators as a red or yellow status.

The ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards was judged by a panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives including past award winners, members of the Marketing Executives Networking Group (MENG), academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medicine.

In addition to Telemetrics, CBT Systems of San Diego was involved in the initial system design and was responsible for installation of the cameras throughout the ballparks and the integration of the system at MLB Network in Secaucus.
