Civolution and Bleiberg partner for second screen film

Civolution has joined forces with Bleiberg Entertainment, a Beverly Hills-based film production company, to produce i-LIVED, the first American feature film to be supported by a synchronised second-screen application for use in the cinema and at home.

i-LIVED was produced from the outset with second screen integration in mind. Civolution's SyncNow Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) technology powers the app's realtime interaction and content triggering in complete synchronisation with the on-screen action.

In order to bridge the gap between concept and realisation, we needed a technology provider that could handle the diversity of devices modern movie-goers carry, with the worldwide variation in theatre equipment, said Bleiberg Entertainment CEO Ehud Bleiberg. Civolution's experience in creating revolutionary second screen activations for both television and live-event audiences made their SyncNow technology the clear choice.

The technology used is designed to deepen viewer engagement with on screen characters and plot.

Using this technology, the audience becomes even more connected to our main character, said i-LIVED director Franck Khalfoun, also director of the recent Elijah Wood-starring Maniac. Rather than distracting from their experience, the app really immerses viewers into the story. It's unlike anything else out there.

The TVBAwards will honour Achievement in Multiplatform Content this Thursday, presenting the award to one of four nominated companies: Easel TV, Elemental Technologies, Ooyala and EVS. The award is one of 13 that will be announced at the event, taking place at the Hilton London Wembley on 23 October. Tickets are still available, and include a drinks reception on arrival, dinner, the award presentation ceremony, and an after party.
