A new multimillion pound media studio complex has opened in London.
The complex will provide facilities to the city's media professionals, as well as creative industries students at London South Bank University (LSBU).
Elephant Studios at LSBU reportedly cost £4 million to build, with the intention of offering high-specification production facilities for digital technologies and multimedia practice.
It was specifically designed for LSBU students, and will be available for hire from summer 2016, after being officially opened on Monday by Lord Michael Grade, television executive and former chair of the BBC.
The opening of the facility follows the announcement from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport that the UK creative industries are worth £84.1 billion to the UK economy.
Janet Jones, dean of the School of Arts and Creative Industries, said, The School of Arts and Creative Industries has a strong and deep heritage in media, design, performance and the visual arts.
Now our students will have access to the most advanced production technology available ensuring they have the best possible experience and employment outcomes. SE1 is quickly becoming a vibrant, creative hub.
Move over Soho, it's Southwark that will host the next generation of creative talent.
Facilities available for use include a film studio, news studio, newsroom, sound studio control room, sound studio live room, screening room, edit suites, grading suites, photography studio, print lab, radio studio and radio control room.
